Some of these retired courthouse jewels are preserved in various ways such as museums and libraries, while others just sit vacant. These forgotten destinations are wonderful peeks into Texas' past, and while some are off the beaten path, they are well worth the search.

Blanco County - Blanco (Currently sits vacant in the Town Square)
Brazoria County - Angleton
Cameron County - Brownsville (Currently sits vacant)
Collin County - McKinney (Currently sits vacant in the Town Square)
Comanche County - Comanche (Currently sits vacant in the Town Square - Known as "Old Cora" and is the oldest courthouse in Texas)
Dallas County - Dallas (Currently houses the Dallas Convention Info and Visitors Bureau. Sits off of Houston Street)
Denton County - Denton (Currently is a museum)
Fayette County - Fayetteville (Currently sits vacant in the Town Square)
Frio County - Frio Town (Currently sits vacant off of FM 140)
Gillespie County - Fredericksburg (Currently is the town's Public Library and sits off of Main Street)
